National Apprenticeship Week - November 13 - 19, 2023

Join NASG as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.

Workers trained through apprenticeship programs bring a high level of expertise and quality to companies. Apprenticeship programs play a crucial role in preserving and passing on specialized knowledge and techniques, which might otherwise be lost over time. Celebrating apprenticeship programs not only acknowledges their vital contribution to the industry but also inspires future generations to pursue these valuable skills.

Industry of the Year 2022 - City of Portland, Tennessee

North American Stamping Group has been awarded 2022 Industry of the Year from the Portland Tennessee Chamber of Commerce.  We are excited to be recognized for our hard work, dedication, and commitment amongst the many industries located in Portland, Tennessee.

NASG opened its first Portland manufacturing facility in 1998 and quickly expanded that facility two times over the course of nine years.  In 2014 we added our second Portland manufacturing facility as well as moved our Headquarters to the same location. We are proud to call Portland Tennessee home and grateful for the opportunities and resources that have allowed us to grow and succeed.

As a company we love participating in many of the events the Portland Chamber of Commerce holds.  A couple of our favorites is the Portland Strawberry Festival and Parade and the Back to School Bash that benefits many of the kids in our community.  NASG is committed to giving back to our community  and will continue to invest in our local schools, teachers, sports teams, and other organizations within our community.

We want to thank all associates who work for North American Stamping Group.  It is their continued support that has allowed us to remain committed to our people, their families, and the community we live and work in.

North American Stamping Group Inaugurates New Building to Accommodate Significant Growth in Mexico

On December 9, 2022, North American Stamping Group (NASG) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new automotive manufacturing facility located in Parque Industrial Queretaro, the same industrial park as our existing NASG location in Queretaro, MX.

The 65,000 sq. ft. building will provide opportunities for growth with new and existing customers and will generate approximately 65 new jobs in addition to the 250 already employed at the existing facility.

The two facilities will operate as a single facility and will have shared leadership in key positions that will oversee both plants. Our existing facility (QRO 1) has a current footprint of 245,000 sq. ft. and will operate as our automotive metal stamping facility. QRO 1 includes 20 progressive and transfer metal stamping press capabilities ranging in size from 150 ton to 2,000 ton. Our new facility (QRO 2) will house our secondary operations and shall provide welded assemblies for our customers.

The inauguration included an address from NASG’s President and CEO, Michael Haughey. “With this new facility, we are well-positioned for the growth in the automotive industry.” Mr. Haughey went on to congratulate our Mexico team on the successful commissioning of our 2nd Queretaro manufacturing location and acknowledged all the hard work and dedication the team provided during the construction process which began in March 2022.

Joining Michael Haughey at the ceremony included Jim Lumsden, General Manager of NASG MX, Ken Kawasaki, VP and GM, Steve Defazio, VP of Manufacturing, Joe Niehaus, VP and Chief Commercial Officer, Mike Lewandowski, VP and Chief Human Resources Officer as well as many of the team members

NASG Hosts White House High School Stem Students at Corporate Headquarters

Another great day with students!
On Monday February 13, 2023, NASG was privileged to host our second group of STEM students from White House High School to our headquarters facility for a tour and discussion of careers in the manufacturing field.

Students were able to meet with a variety of people here at NASG and hear their personal stories about how they got into manufacturing. Students were able to see firsthand how technology is integrated into modern manufacturing. Apprenticeship and Intern programs were explained, and students were able to ask questions about what they saw and heard.

Responses from students were great and the teachers reported that in a post field trip questionnaire, 9 of 15 students would consider NASG or a similar manufacturing company as a possible career path. We think this is wonderful. America needs young people to step up and lead this country into a future where we continue to make things.

Thank you, White House High School, for sharing your students with us.

NASG Mexico Technical Training Center - Tool & Die Apprenticeship

NASG continues to recognize that there is a manufacturing skills gap with skilled labor.  This in turn has caused many manufacturing skilled trades positions to go unfilled.  NASG has developed a registered tool and die apprenticeship program for our Mexico facility.  Our Mexico course curriculum will be based on German toolmaker training standards.  A separate state of the art tool room, fully equipped, along with a dedicated classroom was constructed to support ongoing learning and development.

This is NASG’s 2nd tool and die apprenticeship program with the first being in Tennessee.  It is our goal to continue to train and grow the next generation of skilled trades workforce.  Our programs include classroom instruction covering engineering and tool making concepts as well as hands on instruction with use of cutting-edge manufacturing tools and equipment.

Our Mexico facility apprenticeship program will be trained according to the guidelines of the German Vocational Training Act.  Attending the dedication and celebration of our Technical Training Center in Mexico was Andreas Müller, Deputy Managing Director of the German-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Ulises Dominguez, Head of Education and Training at the German-Mexican Chamber of Industry and Commerce along with Michael Haughey, President and CEO of North American Stamping Group, Rainer Hess, NASG Mexico Training Manager and Jim Lumsden, GM of NASG Mexico.

NASG's Intern Spotlight

NASG had the pleasure of hosting Spencer Meeks as an intern at our Corporate Headquarters in Portland, Tennessee. Spencer joined NASG as a Product Engineering Intern and worked with our Quoting and Design & Engineering teams. He gained valuable experience in the office atmosphere and on the production floor. We wish Spencer the best as he begins his Junior year at Tennessee Technological University.
